Download xbox accessories app. Update firmware on it, also create a profile and you can change the led colors on the logo on the controller.
I would 100% recommend an extended warranty.
When they work I love them.
My series 1 was returned twice for issues (bumper and drift) …so I have had 3. Once it was out of warranty I did my own repair and that finally "broke" as well.
I got my series 2 hoping that the issues were resolved. I have had 2, sending the first back initially for bumper issues. Now that it is out of warranty there is a bumper issue and drift.
All were purchased brand new then Microsoft sent back replacements after I shipped mine to them.
Again… love these when they work. I have gone back to the regular controller sadly.

EDIT: Fine, downvote because I asked for clarification. They could be asking for the differences between the series 1, the Elite Core, the standard controller, a Playstation controller, 3rd party. I have no idea. So I asked. Maybe you can guess correctly. Maybe not.

I bet these open box ones are where all the returns wind up. My local best buy also has about 20 open box returns of these sitting on the shelf.
