I suspect on this model you just push the steam button then start button and steam up the amount of milk you want.

This unit doesn't have the milk reservoir, so it's easier cleanup. The LatteGo has a milk container that is dishwasher safe. On my LatteGo I only use the milk reservoir a few times a year when we have company over. It's all americanos and espresso shots for my wife and I.

The unit for sale is an absolute strong recommendation at this price if you're looking for an easy to use super automatic and have minimal use case for milk based beverages. Dump decent beans and water in, plug it in, and you get solid coffee.

Which doesn't seem quite accurate, as neither the 1200 nor 2200 (non Lattego) even have a milk carafe, let alone an "XL" sized one.

If I pore through images and product descriptions on various sites, I think the main differences between the three are:
-all three are AquaClean compatible, but only the 2200 actually includes the AquaClean filter. The 800 and 1200 don't show it installed in the water tank in the 3/4 view, and some sites say it is sold separately (about $30 on Amazon).
-the 800 has more black trim than chrome trim, namely the drip tray grille and around where the coffee comes out. The 2200 also has additional chrome bezel around the touch display. I suspect the materials might be more plasticky than metal-ly for the black trim vs chrome bits...

I suspect the innards, esp the brew group, ceramic grinder, etc, are essentially the same from the 800 all the way up to the 5400, a lot of the internal replacement parts are the same across the lineup. Mainly a matter of drink selection options and customization of settings....

I have two of this line (Carina and one of the higher end ones with LatteGo). They're great.

I owned two of a predecessor for about ten years (Saeco Intuita) - both still work and I put one in my employees' break room and gave one away. One is still running without any parts, one needed a pump change ($30 and an hour). The guts are basically the same between this and the ten year old machine. Brew group is interchangeable and pump is slightly upgraded on the newer models (same pressure, just rated for a higher duty cycle). Most non-enthusiast machines (i.e., anything you'd likely buy if you are considering a superauto for the first time) use the same commodity pumps (Ulka).

These are solid, very low maintenance machines. The newer ones don't really require regular brew group cleaning (the older ones did better with a rinse every week or two). I run RO water in mine and literally never descale. Can't recommend these enough.
Same background here - I have a Saeco Intelia (exact same as Intuita just with a dressed up LCD, not LED, screen) that I realized is going on 10 years now. The brew group has gotten clogged three times over the years, primarily after a heavy run of oily beans - when that happens, the pores in the stainless mesh screen under the grinds gets gunked up so little to no liquid gets through. But 2 of the 3 times, once I took the removable brew group out, it was easy to disassemble just keeping track of four screws, so that I could give the mesh a good soaking and de-oiling, so it was back to normal. The third time, I bought a replacement brew group for cheap from a third-party Amazon seller, and keep the old one as a backup. The mesh screen itself can also be replaced alone for <$10.

As a result, the old Saeco keeps on ticking, basically forever, making it hard for me to justify getting a new LatteGo version! And I do both the weekly brew group rinsing, as well as the occasional re-greasing, far less frequently than suggested! I do have softened water at home, so I have very little scale build-up that could cause problems (though the AquaClean on the newer models should also alleviate that as well).

Eventually the pump will fail, or other internal tubing or o-rings not in the brew group will leak or fail. All those appear to be servicable though not as easily accessible as the brew group. I'll probably replace at that point, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen anytime soon!

I agree with the poster who thinks this 800 model is just a Costco-special variant of the 1200. It's not unusual to go slightly cheaper on a few components to have a different Costco model, to undercut retailers without getting into direct price-match debates. So far I can only see the 800 available at Costco, and at Best Buy Canada (not U.S.)

EDIT: Also good to know the newer Philips models use the same brew group as the Intelia/Intuita. That was true for many of the older Saeco/Gaggia units, but there were a few brew group variants (such as whether the input nozzle was switched to the opposite side)

What's the cleaning like for these? Dang this is so tempting. I have a full espresso setup I just haven't had the energy for anymore. Everything about this looks great.
Same situation you're in. Got a semi-automatic machine and a separate grinder but really tired of all the manual labor but love milk-based drinks. Jumped on this and it should get here on Thursday

I sold my Brim Espresso. I was sick and tired of all manual labor to get a coffe plus I had to wake 15 min earlier than usual to wash and tamper the coffee and everything, now I can sleep 15 min more in the mornings just because I'm only one press away from the fresh brewed coffee

Yes, it's a bullshit plastic thing. Smilie

After buying three $100 espresso machines that lasted just long enough for the 1yr warranty (+1yr Visa warranty extension) to expire... (2.5yrs on the last one.)

I'm ready to take my chances on this $350 unit with a 2yr warranty (+1 Visa), and Costco support.

P.S. Our coffee mill failed recently, so being able to replace both units with a single point of failure seems like a good thing... /s Stick Out Tongue

In for 1. Been wanting something like this for a while, with it being Costco and Costco visa. It's low risk. Thanks!

Good machine, if you like your coffee very strong like Bustelo, this one won't make it strong enough.
We found the Miele to be better unfortunately it's much more expensive. Other than that, the Phillips machine was great

Very tempting for me. Need to check with the wife (kitchen counter real estate) as I've been looking into getting one for the house. I currently drink basic coffee everyday - grind up coffee beans and pour over with boiling water into a cup. Just waiting for an opportunity to get a nice automatic coffee maker.

Wife wants one preferably that makes iced coffee too like this past deal:

I have an Intuita that I bought refurbished for $200 NINE years ago and it's still running strong. I've had to replace the pump once, two o-rings twice, and the black plastic part that the brew group slides into. Other than that the thing keeps running strong.

This deal is tempting because it looks like it has a bypass doser - where you can drop in some of your own ground coffee instead of using the beans in the hopper and the machines built in grinder.
