I've had mine for a few years, they are decent enough. I did have some ahole hack into them and start yelling at my family through the speaker. Not totally convinced security is top notch. Turned on two-step authentication and all seems good now.

Thats incorrect. On the two I have I can view as far back as the SD card inside holds whenever without a subscription.

And your info is based on......?

I've been using 2 wyze v2's sitting in an environment that gets very hot, very cold and one of them gets splashed w rain and snow sometimes. They still work after several years.

Wyze uses low quality electronic components. Therefore their cameras wouldn't last long.
I wouldn't buy used Wyze.

What's nice about wyze is you get some free basic recordings online. No sub needed and you can add an sd card to get full features.

I have 10 plus the doorbells on 3 houses. Some are 3 years old and work fine still. The free footage is short but you can add a memory card or pay $7 a month for cloud recording for up to 99 cameras.

I have been using wyze cams for a few years now. For my basic needs, they are worth the price. I highly recommend putting in a SD card. 32 gig gives about 3 days of recording.
The alerts are decent. The app is stable.
A minor annoyance is that it takes 10-30 seconds in the app to see the live video, but that is likely the case with any (I haven't tried the more expensive ones)

Since I don't pay for the service, my worry (not specific to wyze) is that if someone just takes the camera, I won't have any recording, thereby defeating the purpose. I consider these less for security, and more for 'keeping an eye' while I am away. In other words, if there is any break-in, by the time I open the app and save the video, they might take the cam offline.

If anyone has a specific question, I am happy to answer.

I purchased refurbished cameras from an eBay listing from what I believe was the official wyze ebay account. And just about all of the cameras had issues when trying to view remotely. They would work for a few minutes and then get stuck on step 2 of 3 when reconnecting.

I wouldn't recommend buying refurbished cameras from them. I have bought around 20 new cameras from them and only had issues with 1 so far, but all of the refurbished v3s that I bought were complete trash. And the lens plastic had tons of scratches fyi. Although the scratches don't seem to affect viewing the camera on the app from what I've noticed.

I don't think it is a component issue so much as a manufacturing issue. The V3 is a great little camera and you can keep a couple of days of video by inserting an SD card.

The issue is that these little cameras will leak at the front lens after around a year of use (and being exposed to the outdoors). Thus, you really want to buy one with a year warranty (vs. the 90 days in this deal) if your camera is going to be exposed to harsh weather. After they dry out, they can still be used indoors but will continue to leak if left outdoors.
