Several times in the last few months, I have bought 3" yellow tagged USDA Choice Angus Cowboys at Sam's Club for $10/lb (25% off).
About 3 to 4 months ago, I was able to buy bone-in USDA Choice Rib Roasts (same cut of meat, less bone), aka Prime Rib without the bone, for $6/lb at Smith's (Kroger), and at Smart & Final for $5/lb with digital coupon app. These roasts are easy to break down into Ribeye Steaks with a long boning or filet knife. I ended up with over 20 2-1/2" thick Ribeye Steaks in my chest freezer. All very nicely marbled, with little excess fat. It pays to look at the weekly grocery ads.

Agreed. $4.99 for USDA Choice rib roast is the cheapest in the West that I saw in our region (Smart and Final). Still have one in my freezer.
