The price chart on this thing is kinda crazy, but these bits are within a few pennies of Amazon's lowest price since, it appears, 2010. Looks like Home Depot has them for the same price even though Lowe's wants $20 for the set. Here's the Home Depot link if you'd rather buy there than Amazon (HD is offering free shipping as well):

This Bosch 'semi-pointed/carbide' type is very prone & sensitive to breaking glass when drilling.
Over many years I've used both types (semi-pointed carbide like the Bosch and the tubular diamond-grit edged core bits) and for glass the tubular diamond core bits always produce less breakage/chipping and better holes.
Near-constant cooling water is a must for either bits, as well as slower rpm speeds, very light pressure, and if drilling plate glass (or any glass) it's best if possible if you have the backside off the glass up against a smooth-surface scrap of plywood. I even put 2 or 3 sheets of newspaper between the glass back and the plywood for the most even pressure backside support, otherwise you'll end up with chipping & 'clamshells' on the back side when the bit breaks thru the back side.
Naturally with some objects, like drilling bottles, it's impossible to have a backing on the inside surface.

I would get it for dear ol' dad but he's doing a stretch in Sing-Sing and as much as he would appreciate the gift....
Most likely not. It will work eventually but might crack. your better off with a diamond coated bit.
