If you really have no preference between the ecosystems, macs have been the chosen computers for video editing for just under forever just make sure you load it out on ram. (and the air M2s are better than the non air m1s supposedly for hardware acceleration so don't consider an M1....) You will of course pay more for the smaller (either screen size results in a laptop that is is physically smaller) and lighter apple and this WILL do video editing fine (see https://www.pcmag.com/reviews/len...-pro-gen-7 for a review with this specific video card rather than the 3060+) Also worth noting, this laptop comes with a 3rd party 2year warranty for free.

Too bad it still has the TAX, coming out for just over 762 dollars. I'm still using an i5 4gen. Are these repurbished ones coming as new from this seller?

Get it from Amazon. has the same 5% discount and if you have the amazon CC you get another 5% on top to offset part of the tax and maybe you have a gift card or points sitting down.

This would make me lean eBay, but also Amazon returns are much easier.

Keep in mind if you're serious about video editing, the paltry 8gb of unupgradable ram nor the unupgradable 256gb SSD of the M2 Air base model are going to be seriously limiting you. By the time you're done paying Apple 8X the going market prices for RAM and storage, you're going to be double the price of this machine which is easily upgradable to 64gb of cheap RAM and 2TB of cheap NVME storage.

I think it depends on many factors, one of which is what software you are planning on using. Final Cut Pro is optimized for MacOS (not available on Windows) and it's what most serious video editors use, even though it costs significant cash. Another thing to consider is that the MBA, regardless of generation, has a serious lack of ports compared to the Legion. If you need portability for video editing, I would recommend the MBA, but if you're mostly leaving it on a desk, I would recommend going with a Mac Mini and a separate monitor if you have the money. I think it's the best value. For reference, I have the Legion Pro 5 with AMD 6800H and RTX 3600, but also have a work-issued base model MBA w/M1. I don't do any video editing or gaming and just needed something faster than my computer from 2014. I also prefer the Windows OS, but Apple's M-series chips are revolutionary. It's making me question whether or not to switch my entire ecosystem to Apple, after defending Windows and Android for the past 10+ years.
