In for one, why not again, except it doesn't look like you can hang a lot of clothes from it when you quit using it.

Obviously impractical machines. That's why they are on sale. The seated treadmill that was posted yesterday was hilarious.

Quick list of pros and cons for these at https://health.usnews.com/wellnes...icals-work

tl;dr : you're not going to lose any weight, just a good way to keep your body in motion. May motivate you to work out in other ways, but this alone is mostly useless.

It's in the title. If you're that lazy, you may qualify for one.

Yes and no. It burns about 150 from the article you linked. That means it's 1,200 calories per 8 hour work period (in a perfect environment).

That's easily 2 big mac's worth of calories a day at that rate (1120). It's a great supplement to real exercise in between and definitely better than nothing. So I recommend this, as it has shown results for me as well when I used it for a month. If you are already in great shape though, I agree not worth it.

thats barely over what your resting metabolism burns if you didnt do this for 8 hrs per day. You should be measuring how many EXTRA calories you's burn. Assuming you burn 100 cals just sitting there, and this burns 150 thats 50 extra per HOUR of sitting there looking like a fool on this.

You'd burn more calories if you got up and went for a 5 min walk every hour or so.

Not to mention you shouldn't be sitting all day anyway.

If you are like 80 years old, or a 500lm blimp and can barely walk or stand this is great. If you are a normal person this is a complete waste.
I would add here that while I agree, the extra mobility is helpful and 50 calories still adds up. Will it help you get in shape? No. But at a desk where sometimes it's good to move and be able to get that extra bit.... It's not a bad purchase at the price.

I'm sitting here in my computer chair, "walking" my feet on the ground. My hamstrings are just being dug into the seat cushion. How on earth are these supposed to work? Or am I to be seated at the front of my seat?

From personal experience, these things aren't practical for most offices. Unless there's something I'm missing about this model, it's hard to use under a desk ie your knees will hit the underside of your desk. These things also tend to be loud enough to annoy people.

That said if you can somehow use this, it's better than nothing.

If you're looking to get healthier and maybe lose some weight, get a VR headset like the Quest 2. You'll be playing video games and losing calories. It's much less repetitive and boring than pedaling in front of a TV

Edit: I've also had mini step machines. Also highly impractical. It's noisy and too unstable for work.

If you want something you can use for work, you'll want a desk treadmill. Anything less than $1000 is garbage though
