I prefer a thicker line on my baitcasters, so I go with minimum 30lb. The thinner diameter braid pinches on the spool when setting the hook and reeling in a fish... resulting in line fouls on the subsequent cast after a catch to contend with...

That said... most optimally when targetting small mouth I prefer to use 10lb on a medium spinning rod.
