I would be possibly interested to use as a monitor but looks like it's not great at that

I was able to score the 55 inch version [amazon.com] for $109.99 last year so I'm hopeful/optimistic I can get this deal as well; thx OP.

Regarding the 55 inch, the colors were terrible and all washed out. No matter what I did, I never could get the picture to be acceptable.

However, when I connected a Fire Stick 4K Max and tried to adjust the picture quality while the TV was in the HDMI input for it, picture quality improved extraordinarily. Once I adjusted the Black Level and White Level via the Screen Test app [amazon.com], I saw a big improvement.

I set the Fire Stick 4k Max Display settings to the following before adjusting the picture settings when using the Screen Test app [amazon.com]….

Color Depth = 12bits

Color Format = YCbCr

Dynamic Range Settings = Always HDR

I mention all this because at first the 55 inch version of this deal made an awful impression and I'm assuming that the 43" version will have the same issues.

IMO you can improve picture quality dramatically by not using the built in FireTV OS of these TVs and using a Fire TV 4k Max stick instead.

Another Amazon scam to get people to join Prime. Then it takes 16 clicks if you ever dare want to cancel. Beware
nah, i wouldnt worry about this being a scam to get you signed up, this is a scam to get another always on mic in your house for recordings.

I don't understand how it can be very good for movies (8.6) but just decent for TV shows (7.0). How does that work?

Every time I have a cheap TV (hand me downs) , the cat pulls it over and breaks the screen. I gave up on a bedroom screen.

Am I the only one who cares about having an Amazon produced device in my home always listening to everything that is said? Is it weird to not be ok with that? I don't think I'd want something like this even if it were free

My cell phone listens in ALL of the time, no matter where I am at. I just try to keep my plans to take over the world limited to hand written notes on self destructing paper napkins that could or could not be stored in a bathroom in Mar A lago.

It amazes me every time I see this level of paranoia. You have a cell phone, your probably post on social media, ever used GPS, go outside....,... Almost every major cooperation that holds data on most of the American population has been breached at this point and the others willingly give it up to tik Tok and the like. There is no such thing as privacy. Anywhere.

For what it's worth, I got the 50" Omni Fire TV from the last Prime Day sale for the bedroom for $100 and could not be happier.

i definitely think there is concern of the slow creep that our society is moving towards when it comes to listening devices in our homes.. i think right now it's not a big deal, but in the future coming years, i believe it will become a big deal, but at that point, people will have been groomed to be "okay" with it until it's not "okay"

personally, I don't talk about anything that would be interesting enough to listen in on.

and unlike a lot of these people who are 'concerned'.. I don't have an ego where I see myself as being *so special* and **important* that people would want to listen to me. so many ppl are concerned that someone is listening in on them asking their mom to get them mcdonalds

Not everyone who signs up will get an invite. Those who get an invite will get a limited amount of time to purchase before the invite expires and goes to someone else.
