I was able to score the 55 inch version [amazon.com] for $109.99 last year so I'm hopeful/optimistic I can get this deal as well; thx OP.

Regarding the 55 inch, the colors were terrible and all washed out. No matter what I did, I never could get the picture to be acceptable.

However, when I connected a Fire Stick 4K Max and tried to adjust the picture quality while the TV was in the HDMI input for it, picture quality improved extraordinarily. Once I adjusted the Black Level and White Level via the Screen Test app [amazon.com], I saw a big improvement.

I set the Fire Stick 4k Max Display settings to the following before adjusting the picture settings when using the Screen Test app [amazon.com]….

Color Depth = 12bits

Color Format = YCbCr

Dynamic Range Settings = Always HDR

I mention all this because at first the 55 inch version of this deal made an awful impression and I'm assuming that the 43" version will have the same issues.

IMO you can improve picture quality dramatically by not using the built in FireTV OS of these TVs and using a Fire TV 4k Max stick instead.

I use the 55" version from last year for 110.00 as a PC monitor. Anyone who sees it connected to my PC playing a 4K youtube video comments how good it looks.

yes, the 6 series TCL has a better PQ.

watching over the air TV is easy. Just change the input to Antenna, and that's it.

you are not understanding. Some of the firetvs come with a built in Roku operating system like mine. no box needed . I don't have a box connected to my firetv at all . I don't have a Firestick connected
If I want over the air TV, I just change to the antenna input using the remote control.

You can also set it up to go to the home screen at startup, or the last input used .You don't have to go to any of the apps for live TV, it has its own input for that.
The TV home screen gives you fast access to any of the HDMI inputs and the Antenna imput


a Roku operating system on a TV is not the same thing as a separate Roku box, though they can share similar functions

Understood. But I am quite paranoid that my $100 TV will fall subject to planned obsolence by way of an eventual software patch. So, I'd rather use a $20 TV stick with it, in hopes that it'll last many more years. (I know it's a little crazy!)

You shouldn't have to do anything at TV startup. It should already be at antenna input, like every other brand TV..

I don't know what the other TVs do, the closest I can get to what you want is it will default to TV antenna every time at startup if that Antenna was the last input used.

Can confirm what they're saying as I own the 43 tcl s455 from the target 120ish dollar deal last October. Roku interface lets you pick either the last used input or antenna when you turn it on. It's great for my mom Incase I had it on a different input. Roku interface is also snappy. Low picture quality customization options though, but for a simple tv it works.

fwiw, if you plug in a fire cube you can say switch to the antenna and it'll do that

Isnt crazy how people have to be "invited" to spend their money? I would get it if it was a small company or an in person sale to, ya know, prevent accidents or keep servers from being overloaded but Amazon? Its quite silly, and I agree with a different comment. I requested an invite for a PS5 and they never got back to me. Ended up getting one from Sony Direct thanks to another post on here i believe.
