Well they aren't in the same class so they shouldn't be compared, but I'll do it anyway. The Acer swift X is a small-medium size 14 inch 3 lb laptop designed for portability first. The Victus is a larger 15 inch 5 lb gaming laptop which prioritizes performance over weight.

So first you should decide how much you value gaming. If you prioritize gaming less then pick up the Acer, as the screen is more color accurate but slow, and the GPU and CPU will be slower due to the lower power design. If you value gaming more then the Victus has a faster screen, more cooling, and a better CPU and GPU (75W 3050 beats a 45W 3050 Ti)

The above commenter is incorrect about the screens, movies will not appear faster on 120hz+, but most games you play on this can be tweaked to run at 75hz which is noticeably smoother than 60hz. After 90 there are diminishing returns in smoothness.
A 14" 1080p color accurate monitor with 100% srgb coverage is pretty decent.
Based purely on specs, this should be better for gaming because of 3050 Ti vs 3050. The CPU in the HP is newer and has slightly higher benchmarks, but it is also much more power hungry, which makes sense since it's built on 10nm as opposed to Acer's that used 7nm, although it's a year older.

HP's screen has higher refresh rate, although it might be wasted for gaming since it's doubtful its GPU can push any recent games to 144 fps. Movies will be more pleasant, though.

Overall, it depends on what you are looking for. I personally prefer the Acer model here because of the 3050 Ti for gaming.

The wildcard between the two is how each system managers thermals. Even the fastest system will slow to a crawl if throttled too much due to heat.

How do these two deals compare?

Over 6 hours of media playing (15w processor and 40w graphics card) this is the sweetspot between a fast and formal device you can bring to work with some gaming capabilities

IIRC the 6gb laptop 3050 should be pretty close to the Ti in overall performance just going by benchmarks. IIRC the Tis are all 4gb too so in some cases the extra memory on the non-Ti may actually result in better performance, although don't quote me on that.

That said, for $600, you might as well shell out a bit extra and go for a 3060+, or if you feel you don't need that much horsepower, wait for a cheaper one with a weaker 3050 and just use it for casual/travel gaming.

RTX 3050 Ti is similar to AMD iGPU 680M lol, AMD uses less power on regular mode

Acer is great if your running DSSL for extra gaming frames, Swift have good build quality. Just avoid the killer wifi cards.
A 3050ti is more than twice as fast as a 680m using shared memory.

Wish this wasn't 1080p. I've been spoiled with 2k and 4k. Although, I do use 1080p monitors at work.

Had this machine on review and it's pretty awesome.. quiet single fan even under max load, great overall performance and pretty decent battery life at I think it got about 7h 30m~ with my usual battery rundown test of running a live stream from Youtube at 150nits.. and great for light to medium gaming performance. At $600 its a great deal since it's a pretty compact laptop with a bright screen. But you're getting like two year old specs here, no 16:10 screen, Zen3 CPU, etc.

The full power 3050ti gets over 90 fps

This low power 3050ti gets closer to 60fps

680M get 50fps

On some games Acer X LP 3050ti is 20-50% faster than 680M.

These 3050ti come in different package, this Acer X 3050ti is the low power 40watt version.
No way its getting the top 3050ti performance in a super thin ultrabook with 1 cooling fan lol.

You didn't even link the correct computer, that's not the Ti version or the Ryzen CPU that allows the GPU more power. You can safely move the power to 50w in the Swift X without a problem.

The Swift X will outperform any 680m by a mile, it's just COPE to think that it doesn't... it's Timespy difference alone is double. This scales pretty well to actual modern games. Having a dedicated GPU with dedicated GDDR6 VRAM is a world of difference in actual games as well.

With a 680m/780m you're taking at least 4gb from main memory on memory hungry games and Windows. Many new games won't work correctly at auto or 4gb set, it requires 8gb which leaves you with a paltry amount of system memory.

In most games, this will outperform the 680m laptops by 40-80% at 1080p even at just 50w. I mean that's being conservative, in some games it's 200%+.

I saw this an thought that's actually pretty legit for the components, but then I saw the you can be put in a lottery to get this at that price deal... My one big thing on laptops is actually the case, always the failure point for me. I've actually come to prefer convertible laptops that the screen will flip all the way around to become a tablet because the hinge design.
