I would avoid in a school setting, every kid who wheeled one around my school was chastised and ridiculed to no end. Kids can be cruel, don't give them any ammo

Wanted 2 for my boys for school, saw that this was a common complaint after a couple months.

My elementary age kids needed a wheeled back for hybrid schooling when things began to reopen in 2021 since the schools issued Chromebooks to K & up. I bought a Samsonite version that has lasted them 2.5 school years. They were pricey ($100 from Macy's on sale) but I'm just now looking to replace them. They still roll great but are pretty beat up. The only issue was because my kids would race other kids, the water bottle holders went fairly quickly. They are very thin mesh and practically disintegrated. Other than that I'd recommend Samsonite.

*edit: As far as teasing, many of the kids have a version of a rolling backpack so that wasn't an issue in my experience.

Here is a very similar version

2 kids in my family specifically wanted rolly backpacks, maybe coz its elementary still? No complaints after using them too but typically doesnt work well after a year.

Bought this for my mom to use for work. Returned it after a week of light use (less than five pounds of paperwork). One wheel came off the hinge. If you plan on using this over anything but laminated or tiled floors, don't even bother.

Nothing will survive a middle school. Get a hiking backpack.

Saw this at Walmart and looks very good for business travel for adults. My wifey did not let me get one. 😢

I think it has to do with the area and culture. I remember kids making fun of those who had rolling backpacks. But where I live now I see a lot of kids use rolling backpacks. I'd assume if they were getting teased there wouldn't be a lot of kids who use them. But also kids are a bit more accepting nowadays so maybe it's also that?

it could also be that some kids just don't care about what others say or comment.

And I just heard from my kids that if you have a rolling backpack, you're cool because your parents allowed you to have one. and they are more expensive than regular backpacks. majority of kids want a rolling backpack at my kids school
