I feel like you're better off with the 4070 in this price range - 150w less draw, newer generation, and similarly priced.

Picked this deal up this morning. My local Microcenter had an open box for $428, which was too good to pass up. Reserved it online and picked up within an hour. Great deal!

many benchmarks show the 3080ti being 5-10% better at quite a few things.

It's because 3080ti is about 15- 20% faster than 4070 running native resolution. So the new tech doesn't really factor in. Plus in 3080ti, you don't need to run a radiator in the winter.

Gotcha - the 40% decrease in power consumption/heat generation and more modern chip may account for that for some - I guess each person must determine what they value and what their rig can support (for example, if you have to get a new PSU to support the 3080ti).

Still don't understand the derisive laugh, though.
