Some dealers in my area, NE GA, are actually discounting the Ioniq5s $2500-$7500 right now. Not sure if that is a regional discount but the discounts seem to be coming from both the dealer and/or Hyundai. I know my local Hyundai dealer has had 3-5 Ioniq5s sitting in the front of their dealership for 1 - 2 months now that they can't seem to sell.

On a related note, the NHTSA just opened an investigation into the Ioniq5 due to reports that some Ioniqs are losing power while being driven. Not a full recall as of yet but enough complaints, around 30, to warrant a closer look. https://www.caranddriver.com/news...stigation/

Why buyout when you could invest those funds at a rate > 0.9%? Current 13-month CD's pay 4.3%.

Financing? Isn't the real deal when you do a lease, get the $7500 credit then do a lease buyout?

I agree. Ioniq 5 has a fake luxurious interior. If Hyundai can put a better quality interior and better audio, it can compete better with Tesla.
exactly, that was the only thing lacking....interior and audio. Just put maybe like $5,000 more into it then it's just as good or better than a Tesla. AND, it'll still be cheaper than a Tesla.

Not sure how you're working out the math there.

The base RWD Ioniq 5 as noted in thread title is already more expensive than the base Model 3.

The base AWD ioniq 5 is more expensive than the base AWD Model Y.

And all the Teslas qualify for the $7500 federal tax credit on purchase, the hyundais get $0 that way and have to hope to use leasing tricks to work around that.

Adding $5000 in upgraded stereo and interior to the Hyundai would just make it even more overpriced in comparison.

If you want a soft ride similar to Buick, then Ioniq 5 is probably a better choice. If you want a better performance like a BMW, then Tesla is the better choice. Also, the infotainment on Tesla is much better than Ioniq 5.
Comparing ride performance (ie handling) of a Tesla to a BMW is a big joke. Seriously, have you owned both to even make this comparison? I just went from a Model S to an iX and there is no comparison. The Tesla ride feels cheap, even considering it has air suspension. It manages to feel rough and not handled well. It is the worst air suspension ride I have ever owned (and I have owned about 4 cars with air suspension).
The iX somehow manages to handle extremely well and is smooth and comfortable.

As for infotainment, I liked the Tesla when I owned it but bird's eye navigation is not great and has gotten me lost many times. Carplay/Android auto (with 1st person POV) beats it hands down (which is what Ioniq has).

They definitely do not have the same suspension (nor should they- different weight, different expected distribution of parts/riders/cargo, different ride height, etc)

Even with in the 3 they don't use the same suspension on RWD vs dual motor vs dual motor performance cars, and have been through multiple revisions of the parts on each over the years...

For example the dual motor non-P from right coil/shock assembly today is PN 1044368-00-G... and the G is the revision, they start with A and increment the letter each time they change the part.

Over on the Y the same location uses a complete different part (again different for RWD vs dual motor vs DM Performance) with the equivalent dual-motor non-P part on the Y being 1188368-00-H
Than all I can say is that the Ioniq 5 suspension felt worlds better than the model 3 RWD suspension for 2023... much smoother by a landslide and not as bumpy/unrefined over the road.

Interior of Ioniq is so much better than interior of Tesla, lol. Bose sound system on high trim is pretty good, but not as good as Tesla's or GV60's.

1-2% apr vs 5.6% with Tesla is the &7500 tax credit makeup (although comes out to more like $5k for base models over 4-6 years depending on loan length. Also you can get Ioniq's below MSRP. Got mine for almost 6K below MSRP last week.

You probably get $1 k dealer discount and $5k cash incentive, I doubt dealer would give $6k dealer discount.

I got a Limited awd with 1.5% apr financing over 60 months out the door for less than $56k ($0 state tax caveat). Then they gave me a better than market deal for trade-in.

Ioniq 5 is a SUV while Tesla model 3 is a Sedan...not a direct comparison.

I mention both the 3 and the Y in the post you're quoting.
