Don't buy a junk EVSE for this price. There are plenty of decent option out there

"Amazon Basic" means Amazon is backing it (at least they did some tests). Even it could be crap, but it is "Amazon Basic" certified.

Amazon/eBay/China crap to charge your EV.

Awesome.
I bet 90% of the stuff in your house was made in China, sparky.

Atleast they refund if your EV or house got burnt. The Chinese simply don't respond

Id rather pay the extra $100 for an emporia and have 40amp on a nema 14-50 or 48amp hardwired.

Before you buy one, see if your power company has any rebates for other models. I was able to get a $500 rebate on a charge point.

As much as I want to say this is a good deal, I have to say beware of ANY electronics under the Amazon Basic brand. This charger runs HOT. With current heat wave and high temps in the garage, I wouldn't bet my homeowners insurance policy with this.

I've had a plug-in hybrid for a few years and I adore my car. It's nice rarely having to use gas and ridiculously cheaper to commute. I can't imagine ever using a regular car again, it'll have to be hybrid or electric from now on.

This looks to be identical to an EVSE being sold under the brand name EvoCharge: https://evocharge.com/product/evocharge-evse/

I would probably trust this slightly more than the alphabet-soup Chinese "brands" that will ghost you in a hurry when their charger burns your house down. It's no Clipper Creek but it seems to be a reasonable budget option.

Just anecdotal, but we've had this unit for about 3 years and it has been fine for a cheap EVSE. It's been mounted outdoors the entire time and haven't had any issues. I have not noticed the charger running hot, but I will say the cable sometimes gets warm. It's probably because it is on the thin end (though that helps significantly with maneuverability of the cable).

First, check with your energy utility company if they offer EVSEs at good rebates. If so, get one of those.

If not, get an Emporia EVSE. I have 4 EVSEs at home and found Emporia to be the best value for a well reviewed UL listed EVSE from a large company.

If y6want to load share.(meaning, smartly share a single 50A circuit between two 40A EVSEs), I recommend getting EnelX JuiceBox EVSEs.

And between 40A and 48A EVSE, I would get 48A
(assuming the power panel supports a dedicated 60A circuit) because the relatively small upfront cost is worth paying.
