How do you use a c clamp on the pistons that have to be rotated?

Everyone on here "my car blah blah blah" they are for cars which use a parking brake integrated into the rear caliper. A pry bar, c clamp, or channel lock cannot be used to retract this type. This kit is handy as fark. (Src: 15 year mechanic)

This tool is for a Ford-keyed piston, this is overkill for a normal universal cylinder piston, isn't it? The one I use for my Ford is a little cube with pegs; costs almost nothing and I use it with my 3/8ths wrench. This is a slick version of that cube. I have something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Supercrazy...228&sr=8-5
I had this cube. All the pegs broke on me and it's now useless. I would not recommend this.

Worth the trouble of driving to and then retuning a borrowed autozone version.

Or in my case borrowing one, and it was broken but I didn't know that so I thought my piston was seized and then had to drive to another store much farther away to get one that wasn't broken and finished the job.

$16 is worth that.
And having them have a pending charge on your credit card for like a week before it drops off. Also they don't just charge $16. The hold is for a full retail cost of a professional set.

The rear brake pistons (puts pressure on the pads to clamp down on the rotors for disc break) on my 2017 Subaru Outback requires this tool to put both pressure and rotation at the same time to retract the piston. One of those tools that when you need it wish you had it cuz if you don't have a spare car you're going to have to put the old pads and wheel back on to drive to the auto parts store

I don't even use c-clamps. I've been using some of those Irwin quick clamps. Does the job.

I use a simple C-clamp on my 2017 Forester. I don't understand why you need to rotate anything…

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

IIRC, I just used needle nose pliers to twist while forcing piston...besides, this is only a dollar or two off the usual price, so nothing real slick here.

Your forester has drum emergency brakes probably. If a vehicle uses only disc brakes the rear calipers will ratchet down to keep correct tension for the emergency brakes to work. This tool turns the caliper because you can't simply compress them back.

Emergency brakes for rear disc brakes come in two forms. One is a drum assembly inside the rotor hub and the other is a rotating piston in the caliper. The caliper style has a rotating piston. Cars I've had with the rotating piston caliper were rotated with large needle nose as they are indents in the piston...

I have a set similar to this from Amazon. It's worked well for me on a 2017 WRX and a 2020 CX-5 brake job.

C-Clamp for for compressing normal pistons and large needle nose for rotating pistons in emergency brake assemblies has handled everything I have come across...

You can change out breaks with some chewing gum, a McDonald's double cheeseburger wrapper, three blades of onion grass, and a jar of honey...
But for $15, it's awful nice to use the tool designed for the job.

Gotta say, after fighting with a Ford Edge for 6 hours, buying the tool next day delivery and getting it done in 90 seconds was the right choice.
