That's what I found, right on Dewalt's own website. Not worth it.

Yeah, it just throws a lot of power out in a very short time.

you don't buy powerstacks for the capacity. if you don't know what you're looking at then don't comment. you don't have to comment. it is worth it if you need an extra charger along with the battery. if you just want the battery, it's slightly less worth but still not bad. this would be a very good deal if it wasn't for the recent woot sale.

I'd be in if this was sold & shipped by amazon, not some 3rd party seller.

Sold & shipped by amazon price right now looks to be $95.

Dewalt on Amazon in a nutshell. Just a sea of counterfeits.

the charger is the 112, they should include the 115 for their premium battery kits

The charger goes for $20 new on marketplace. I know because I sell all of my extra kit chargers.

The ONLY advantage to these Powerstacks over a regular XR battery is the ability to provide more consistent power along the full drain. Meaning it will put out the same wattage when full as it does right before it dies. The XR has an output curve that drops as capacity drains. But being only a 1.7Ah battery, it's not advisable to use this battery on any tool that requires a high level of draw since it will simply die faster.

At 1.7Ah, it's more of a proof of concept than anything else. The 5Ah version is a great battery, but still ridiculously overpriced for what it is. If this kit was < $50, I might consider it, but I'll stick to the slim 4Ah as my go-to for now.

The advantage of the powerstack is that it has a peak discharge rate comparable to a 5ah or so "double stack" in a form factor smaller than the "single stack" 2ah/1.5ah kit battery. None of Dewalts batteries have a significant drop off in power over their capacity in my experience. Also the 1.7ah is in no way a proof of concept, it's an initial offering that fits certain niches. Paired with a compact impact like the DCF923 you get 90% of the performance of a year or two ago's "mid torque" impacts in a gun that is smaller than the smallest impacts that were available. Even a year ago before these batteries were mainstream you had to sacrifice some of the compactness of a gun like the 923 by running it with a 5ah. Run time for tools that are intermittently used like an impact or similar are more than adequate for most users. Certainly you're not going to put it on a blower or weed trimmer or similar, but that's not what it was intended to do.
