I have two Skytech gaming PCs that I bought just before the pandemic (think RTX 2060 vintage). Both are really good machines and continue to serve me (and my kiddo) very nicely. The first didn't work right out of the box. It was a bad video card. The return was super easy and they cross-shipped the replacement. Two things to note:

1. Motherboard choice can be hit or miss and will generally be bare bones. I'm past the point of really messing around with my PCs (I spent years rolling my own but just don't want to deal with the hassle anymore). But if you definitely want a specific motherboard, it's a bit of a crapshoot. Sometimes you can narrow it down to 2-3 possibilities if Skytech will give you that info (but I couldn't choose among the possibilities - you just take your chances).

2. The keyboard/mouse combos for both of my PCs were beyond cheap. They get the job done in a pinch and I use one of a Zwift bike trainer setup in my garage (i.e. virtually no usage). But I figure most people will have their own combo to bring to the show.
Damn, this is only $200 more than I paid for just a 3060 TI a couple years ago.

Never heard of these guys, but that's a pretty damn good price. Aer the reliable and trustworthy? How is the after-sales like?

Guessing it's through Skytech (1-yr warrant) based on this phrase on the bottom of the product page.

"Please note that all 3rd Party Non-Monoprice Branded Products carry a 14 day return policy."

Is this good enough to pickup for a kid or should I go with a laptop?

Depends on what your kid plays and what they want to use it for. This should be fine for most kids, but if your kid wants the laptop to move around the house or go to friends houses, this will be much less convenient. Desktop will always give you a better overall price / performance though. And this will be infinitely more upgradeable than a laptop if that is a concern.

Last black friday I got mine and i can tell you that packaging and quality were really good. So far everything has been working without any issue.
I got a RTX 3080 Ti with a Ryzen 7 5800X for $1600 + shipping

You're unlikely to notice any tangible difference that you'd be happy paying $800 for.

Before looking into buying this, check out the Micro Center brand called Powerspec. They often have insanely powerful systems with very affordable prices.
