Need to upgrade from my Ryzen 5 3600.

This a big enough jump? Pairing with a 3070Ti

Not really. I went from 3600 to 5600x and saw about a 15-20% jump in gaming performance. The 5800X might give you either slightly more or about the same.

Save up for a 5800X3D or an AM5 build

if your board supports it, 1700 to 5700s is a huge upgrade. Do it. I went from 2700x to 5700x and it's noticable. You might need a better heatsink if you are still rocking a oem wraith cooler... maybe

5700x is a 65w cpu. wraith is more than fine.

I just switched from a Ryzen 7 3700x to a Ryzen 7 5700x because supposedly it was a better match for my new 6800XT. In hindsight I just wasn't using my brain, plus I then learned that the Ryzen 5 5600x has essentially identical performance to the Ryzen 7 5700X and can be had for less. I suggest looking into it.

I'm still running a 1800x with a 1080. Diablo 4 runs fine on high settings. Would this CPU make much of a difference?

Night and day difference. although the 1800x wasn't tested, it shouldn't be too far off from the slowest CPU in the bunch.

Are these processors expected to continue to drop in price? I'm in a similar boat. I want to upgrade my ryzen 5 3600 to something with a bit more speed and power. How noticeable are the differences between the Ryzen 7 5600x or a Ryzen 9 5900x? Other than more threads and cores for multi tasking, any other advantages?
