Timing could not have been better since I was almost going to snag 15 from the lowest kind off eBay since their bulk discount makes it $6.38 or so per bulb! This is even cheaper now!

Thanks for the heads up. I was definitely interested in this, but I run 5000K only. The search continues.

Generation? I have a first gen which when the power goes and back on they go full bright. Doesn't matter setting it to last known state.

Yeah they're probably all returns from people who don't understand what 2700K means. Then again there are heathens that somehow want that cave fire look.

Though a month ago i settled for the %30 off direct sale they had. The 4 button circle remote is kinda nice. Should of bought more of them.

For people that turn the lights on outside every night these are great. Set them to fade in at sunset and fade off at sunrise. I have one that faces the neighbor's house so I have it fade on to only 30% so I'm not blasting their bedrooms. They will adjust timing throughout the year based upon sunrise/sunset at the ZIP code configured.

So why do people still pay so much for Hue lights? What am I missing?

Care to elaborate? I'm having trouble seeing their advantage over every other smart bulb with the same or more features for a third the price. And they're not even high CRI from what I can tell. 10 years ago they were class leading but how is the price justified now?
