Thanks got it for $19.99 after trading in a Fire HD 8 (2020). Got $25 for the old tablet + 20% coupon ($149.99 - 20% = $30).

Guys! Guys! Guys! If you want to spend this much for a basic 10, might as well get this 10 Plus with a Wireless Charging Dock! 4GB RAM for the 10+ comparing to only 3GB RAM for the 10. Day and night difference, 10 usually lags like crazy, I have no problem with the 10+. My iPad Pro has been sitting in the drawer for awhile. I have hd 10 from 2019 . It's the slowest tablet I ever owned and that's just opening 1 app. Does anybody else have this problem?

Yes! I use mine to display my online recipes and it freezes all the time with only one website up and webpages constantly crash. It is very frustrating. Seems the 2021 version has 3gb RAM rather than 2gb so maybe it will work slightly better.

Ended up going with Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 10.5 inches, 128GB WiFi Tablet Rose Blush- SM-T860NZNAXAR (Renewed) for $180. It's close to my OnePlus 8 with AMOLED screen, 6 GB RAM, and Snapdragon 855. "Acceptable condition" hopefully screen and battery are good.

FYI, this was the introductory price when this unit came out in 2021, so not super slick.

I wouldn't be surprised if a new version debuts this autumn, because Amazon seems to update them every 2 years.

Were you able to get all discounts applied during purchase? For me it says I need to send in the tablet AND THEN I will get the $30 or $15 and 20% towards a purchase.

Has anyone traded in an older tablet that has been rooted and is running Lineage OS? Does Amazon end up rejecting those? If so, I think I could trade in my 2017 HD 10 and get the 2021 for all of $15+tax. Or anyone have a link to clear directions for reverting to stock OS? Thanks!

I have de-Amazoned many Fire tablets and traded them in without problems. You can even retain the charger without any problems.

I have both. This 2021 is noticably faster than the 2019. But it won't win any awards.

I have an old B&N Nook color that I had hacked and put Android on. Barely used it except for reading digital graphic novels and comics. Will this be a nice upgrade?

Do not buy this unless you have an old tablet to trade in and get it for <$40 or if you plan on using it as a photo viewer

Reasons:
1. Amazon killed Fire toolbox (easy way to get google play store, kill ads, disable bloat etc)
2. 3gb ram is atrocious. It is painfully slow.

Alternatives:
Walmart has their in-house "Onn" branded tablets which run vanilla android, are cheap and get one update to the next OS. The 2023 version seems good for the price.

Load custom rom from XDA. I believe the 2019 tablet is known by the code name of suez. Google for suez XDA.

Are you sure that is the case? Looking at the price history it shows that it went on sale a few times after being released at the MSRP, but it didn't drop to the current price until Black Friday, almost 7 months later.
