Most people don't have a 4k uhd disc player, uhd disk sales are only about 6% of the market Vs Blu-ray/DVD.

480 to 1080 was a bigger jump than 1080 to 2160. Blu-rays still look great (especially with an upscaling 4KBR player or TV that upscales well).

I agree I'd rather buy 4KBR's, but for many movies it's not worth the premium price. Around $5 for a blu-ray purchase is still a good value.
