Agreed. They did the same thing when I contacted them. Not sure what else you could do aside from just not getting the discount. Even if this does burn a favor with customer service, it's a legitimate request...

I have done trade-in a ton of times in the past. There are usually two camps.
1- you get the credit and 20% instantly. Most often when you select accept price given and the item is registered to your account.
2- you do not get the credit or 20% until the item is received, often when you select return item and/or it is not a product registered to your account.
As Tumbleweed and Wavy-Nife noted, during the trade in process it will state if it is "instant" or "once received".

Only this time instant does not seem to be working for many people, including me.
I did a trade 2 times, one for a Fire tablet couple days ago, one for this stick. Both times, for both trades, it stated the credit and 20% would be applied instantly and automatically- yet while the credit does appear, neither showed 20% in checkout.

Like I've said I have done several trades over the years, and I have only had this happen once before where it has said instantly but it did not shown up instantly.
It's a hassle contacting Customer Service because sometimes they say the 20% does not apply because the item is already on special sale, sometimes they want to take the 20% off the sale price- not full price as the coupon does. Can be a pain in the butt for $11.

The automatic 20% is not working for me either, however I was able to get the 25% discount to automatically apply on the echo buds deal. I even picked the same exact old fire stick I had (had 2 old ones) and the discount showed up automatically.

This thing crashes almost like clockwork and is very restrictive. I bought the Walmart ONN box: rock solid. The Firestick is now in the closet.

A/b time these 4K Max's have come down to $25. Now, unless other competing retailers' have reduced their price to reflect Amazon's pricing then I think it's time to sign myself up for another trial Prime membership again 😁

Amazon customer support denied my 20% discount when I called. Chatted and was able to get it but 20% refund will be issued after Amazon receive the product and must chat again to get the refund. Much more work than just getting 20% applied when ordering like in the past

When you trade in an old Amazon Fire Stick do you need the original box or can you put the stick, remote, charging wire and charging brick in a zip lock and send it in? I don't think I have the old boxes. Will Amazon accept that? I assume they just do this to recycle electronic parts.

Walmart's ONN 4K. $20. Buy the 2-year $2 warranty. You're welcome. Walmart is also reportedly coming out with a stick within weeks, but I like the box form factor.
