A restart will clear the RAM, but not app caches, just like with all Android devices. And Amazon bloatware automatically loads.

The better CPU makes things snappier than regular 4K. For a streaming device, it's not worth upgrading from regular 4K. I'm a sucker for cheap/subsidized Amazon Echo devices so I have this paired with Echo (and dot) speakers as a "theater setup" and it's got eARC to supplement your other media players. The sound is a nice upgrade over traditional TV (or in my case projector) speakers but a sound bar is better; I prefer the "wireless" aesthetic in my guest bedroom

Does the Amazon gift card $5 credit override the trade in bonus? Says I got paid instantly (and I see the $3), but I do not see the 20% bonus at checkout.


EDIT: Ah, I see other people with the same issue. Thought it was just people wondering about whether instant or not but now read more closely. So it seems it's YMMV on whether paid and credit instantly really is instantly and not just the normal before versus after trade in.

spoke with chat. They said the discount will be applied to my Amazon account once the trade in is received.

It said on the trade in page " "A 20% promotional credit toward a new qualifying Fire TV device is available in your Amazon account. The credit will be applied automatically once you shop for and add the qualifying device to your cart.""

You need to download the free "Background & List" app, then manually force close each open app and clear its cache. Once you do that, they will remain closed. Very easy and quick process, and it makes a huge difference with keeping the speed of the stick/cube.

Until the thing crashes and you have to do it all over again. I eliminated all that by sticking it in the closet.

I see my instant bonus is working on the Cube, so I wonder if they disabled it on the Stick. I also have the "save 50% on Fire Stick 4K" banner in my account, so maybe that has something to do with it? Can't get that coupon to work either. (Not that I would order it, just testing.)

It looks like additional 20% exceeding their bottom line discount (maximum allowed) and so they are not applying automatically. If it didn't have $30 price reduction, probably would have applied.

If Amazon rep denied the 20%, ask to talk to their supervisor. The trade-in email stated clearly "A 20% promotional credit toward a new qualifying Fire TV device is available in your Amazon account. The credit will be applied automatically once you shop for and add the qualifying device to your cart. " It said "is available ", not "will be available ".

If the rep BS you that the 20% will only be available AFTER they receive the trade-in, that doesn't explain the above, also why the $3 credit is instantly available.

Don't believe them that they will apply 20% later on your order after they receive the trade-in. That won't happen. Escalate to their supervisor. Even though it is only $5, that's the spirit of slickdeal. They can't lie about their discount offers
