I've never really needed to drill concrete. Do I need these for hanging stuff on my garage wall? I also need to look into a hammer drill. Just have the DeWalt impact driver and drill, and 1/2" impact wrench that I love.

Is your garage wall concrete, block or brick? Then yes.

You don't necessarily need a hammer drill, it makes life a lot easier but you can get by without one, you cannot get by without a masonry drill bit.

If your garage wall is sheetrock then you don't even need a drill, yes it's easier. But in a pinch I've used a screwdriver and a hammer to make a hole for sheetrock anchors.

If you have a stucco house, or plaster walls these work great too.

Get a hammer drill for concrete. You will never go back. It's like butter.

If you have 20v drill, use it with 5ah battery. This is a great set for the price

This is a good price. I bought this exact set from Amazon 6 months ago and paid just under $17 before tax, and at that time Amazon had better pricing than the big box hardware stores. Thanks OP!

Forget a hammer drill, don't bother with the glorified vibrating drill. It will be loud, drill holes slowly, while vibrating the hell out of your hands.

What you want is an SDS rotary hammer with SDS bits (these are not that). Much higher force impacts that will drill smoothly through even old concrete.

DeWALT makes a few models in the 20v variety that will all drill into concrete better than even the best hammer drills.

A regular drill or impact driver just spins the bit and creates a lot of heat. They may work for a few small holes but will quickly ruin the bits. A hammer drill punches the bit forward, pulverizing the concrete and spinning it away.

An SDS has more powerful punches, but really isn't necessary for the small holes in concrete block that you probably need for your project.

Good price but you need a hammer drill to get decent performance out of these bits.

And even with a hammer drill, that 1/2" bit will be slow going - in old/hard/high-strength concrete you're going to struggle. If you're drilling more than a few holes, get (cheap at HF or rent) a rotary hammer and the related SDS bits. Those go through concrete like butter Smilie

I've bought masonry bits as needed. The typical size for Tapcons is like $3 or $4. The big advantage to this set for many people is that all the masonry bits go inside a bright yellow pouch so they'll be easier to find next time you need them in a few years.

Hammer drill is nice to have when you need it. I just have the basic Ryobi one, and it's done fine whenever called up for duty.

Remember - the most expensive tools you own are the ones you have never used.
