This is a good price, right? Even with AMD the only GPU better is the 4090

Best deal I've seen on the 4080. With rasterization about on par with the 7900xtx, the choice you have to make is do you want better software enhancements like DLSS and RT with nvidia, or do you want 8gb more VRAM for a little less money. I was able to snatch up a 7900xtx PowerColor Hellhound card for $830 new on Amazon when it went briefly on sale a couple weeks ago now, so for me it was a no brainer. I heavily 4k mod Skyrim and often see 18gb+ of VRAM usage, so I'm glad I went with the 7900xtx over the 4080.

Is anyone able to find a MSI Ventus 4080 Water block? I am not able to find one on the internet so buyer beware in case you are planning to get into water cooling eventually a few months down the line.

BTW, it is $300 under the MSRP $1299.

I too bit on a 7900 XTX.
I ended up with a Power Color Red Devil and it has been great.
Max 4K 120 FPS on everything I've thrown at it.
I'd have preferred an Nvidia card, but the $830 price I too paid (open box, perfect condition) was too hard to pass up on.

I was strongly considering swapping back to AMD this generation if we didn't see any 4080 drop below $1,000 - but I've become so dependent on NVIDIA Broadcast/RTX Voice I would have done so reluctantly.

I'll bite on this deal and hang on to it unopened through Prime Day just in case...

Conversely, as an existing owner of a 7900 XTX, I bought both a second one and a 4080 for my second rig. The 4080 was a open box and the 7900 XTX was the same Hellhound deal as yours so price difference was like 20 dollars.

Ended up returning the 7900 XTX for one reason most people dont consider... Resale value. I change my GPUs every 1-2 years so I figured I would get more for my 4080 in a years time.

resale value was a thing for Nvidia in the past (coz gen to gen perf was good while AMD wasn't doing good until 6000 series. 5000 series was okay for low/mid) but I don't know what resale value would hold for 4000 series. They're priced quite high, already.

The performance is neck and neck with 7900XTX, in rasterized performance, but I feel like I'll have FOMO if I don't have Nvidia's superior ray tracing and frame generation DLSS

In a moral dilemma now, my XFX mer310 7900 xtx runs so cool, got it with a $98 coupon for $881, barely goes 60c and hot spot temp 75c and pretty much maxed out at 4k gaming with high ray tracing. But if you are into machine learning/video editing and wants to utilize better supported CUDA cores in productivity application, then Nvidia is no brainer.

Damn good price. Would buy this if I hadn't already bought my 4070ti.

But the 4070ti is a 4080.

Sorry I had to.

GPU prices are following SSD prices. Unless you NEED one now, there is no FOMO!

If GPU were sold/packaged as CPUs are, many would realize just how small they really are, even if you know 98% of mass is all fans and heatsinks. The actual tech is no bigger than a CPU. Impressive in and of itself but as a shopper, one would realize just how much they are charging.

AMD also has AMD noise suppression, also you can find open alternatives here: https://gist.github.com/tcarrio/7...125bfbe74a
