I was able to use both the $10 off $75 AND $20 off $150 coupon last week during one shopping trip. I was only hoping to use the $20 off $150 w/my shopping trip, coupled with the military 10% discount (may be regional) but was surprised they also applied the $10 off $75 coupon as well!

That could be true with any grocery chain depending on what you buy and the particular week…but overall, as a multiple-times-weekly Kroger shopper, I would say their sales are pretty good. The July 4 sales were great in fact. Getting a free Plus card (in conjunction with their app) will also let you rack up discounts on gas, get cash back, etc. As crazy as the economy is, I'd say Kroger is more competitive now than ever. They even started allowing you to use their digital coupons up to 5 times. And when inflation was really shooting up, they kept certain things from going up in price for 1-2 months. All that said, if you prefer name brands, see how much you can save if you switch to the Kroger brand versions of your favorite items.
Kroger sucks. Half the time the digital coupons don't work. The Kroger stores in my area are poorly managed. Stores are dirty, meat and produce are often spoiled. As for gas discounts, it's equivalent to getting around 1.5% cashback for most people. You'd be better off using a credit card to get a higher cash back amount at a different store (like 6% back using US Bank shopper rewards card at Walmart) than using Kroger for their fuel discount. Seriously add it up. The fuel discount is a mind trick, you don't save that much. If you spend $100, you get .10 off a gallon. If your vehicle holds 15 gallons and you fill it all the way up, that's a discount of $1.50 for a full tank. So you spent $100, and got $1.50 back. 1.5%.
