The Mod didn't include this in the edit so I'll post it as a comment so people actually see it:

These are being sold as "unopened" to get around pricing guidelines. As a result they wont officially come with a warranty, but people on Woot have said Vitamix honors the warranty anyway (7 years). An Asurion Protection Plan is also available.

Does anyone have experience with these blenders? Our old cheapo blender just burnt out not too long ago so I'm thinking it makes sense to upgrade to a higher quality blender.

How does this model compare to other vitamix models? Very confused on what the differences are. Looking something for ice smoothies that is on the quieter side.

I've been using mine for a few months and I seriously think it's great for making smoothies. The washing setting also makes cleanup easy. However, this is NOT quiet. You're going to have a hard time trying to not disturb your roommate/partner in the morning

Don't really think any are quite and all can do ice smoothies.

We upgraded from Ninja to Vitamix a couple of years ago and couldn't be happier. It's a beast, you cannot go wrong with Vitamix whichever model you choose.

So my Blendtec Wildside jar kicked the bucket after approximately 10 years (unfortunately, the counter on the Blendtec says we only used it around 700 times). The gear that holds the blade in at the bottom wobbles around like crazy. Anyhow, replacement jars are like $140+. Should I just get the vitamix instead (money's not an issue).

I'd be pissed if my blendtec container died in ten years. I've had a vitamix container for 14+ years and it's still going strong. Used 3-4 times a week.

If money is not an issue, just get both, use them alternatively, and do a 10yr comparison once one of them dies first.

Oh I'm definitely pissed. The bearing inside the jar basically exploded. Looking at reviews, seems like that's a pretty common occurrence. I did e-mail Blendtec with the photos of the mangled jar. Curious to see what they come back with (who knows since the company was bought out in 2021).

It's obvious that the Blendtec already lost.

Yes because spending $300 is a bigger reason to not do this rather than wasting 10 years using, storing, and alternating between two nearly identical machines.
