Keep in mind this is the 2020 model, not the slightly upgraded 2022 version. Per rtings.com, the main differences are the 2022 is much brighter and has VRR (though still limited to 60 hz). For a darker room and limited viewing angle, such as a bedroom, this is still a great TV though.

It smokes the 4 series.

Pass… It's the older model 5-series from 2020. The newer 2022 version, 65S555, is a significant improvement and goes on sale for $500 regularly. I'm going to budget more for something with HDMI 2.1.

Keep in mind this is the 2020 model, not the slightly upgraded 2022 version. Per rtings.com, the main differences are the 2022 is much brighter and has VRR (though still limited to 60 hz). For a darker room and limited viewing angle, such as a bedroom, this is still a great TV though.

It smokes the 4 series.

Looks like this 2020 model has been on clearance at this price a few times before. Is the 2021 or 2022 much better?

Rtings says the best TV under $500 [rtings.com] is the 55" S555 (newer model) so this 65" S531 for $400 is certainly a great value if it meets your needs.

Idk why but it seems like Walmart inventory skews towards one or two year old models instead of the current one. Feels like I'm reading Woot thread every time with old models of things
