Bought this from Costco but will probably return. When it burns it's great. But can't seem to get the hang of adding pellets - it goes through them like crazy and I've had to reignite it periodically.

I agree. I only used pellets once, and when we went through that bag in no time, I started using small chunks of black oak. I have to constantly add a couple chunks every 15 minutes or so.

How big was the of bag of pellets that you got for this? I ask because I already have 20lb bags of Kirkland pellets for the grill and could probably just use those.

It was either a 20 or 40 pound bag. It was wood fuel pellets, not grilling. Wood fuel pellets burn faster than good quality grilling pellets. If you're going through more than 1 pound of pellets per hour, you more than likely have low grade pellets. It also seems hardwood pellets burn longer than softwood, while softwood burns faster and hotter.

But with this personal stove, it goes through pellets like crazy compared to just laying them out in a fire pit and letting them burn. I think their airflow design constantly gives fuel to burning the wood faster as like someone's blowing on the wood in the fireplace/camp fire. Thus why I switched to the free wood I have on hand from the wood pile. I just have to cut them down to little chunks so they will fit.

Edit: 40 pounds https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc...lb-3195163.

I have one of these and have been using the same 20lb bag of pellets for 10-15 burns and still have at least half the bag left, using a cheap $7 bag from Walmart. It can be tricky to keep the flame going - if you dump too many pellets at once it will snuff the fire out and/or smoke like crazy. Once I get it going I use a cup and just add in a little bit at a time. Makes a nice flame and adds a lot of warmth for its size!

If you have one of those return bin stores, check for these. I got one for $8 and saw another one later.
