You can buy a Crosman Vigilante for a little more and have a pellet pistol and bug salt gun.

You go ahead and share earth god healing energies with flies and mosquitoes in your house. I'll keep killing mine and having a blast while doing it.
Pleasure in killings leads to bigger issues. I kill bugs when I have to but I don't get pleasure in that.
Not sure what version you have but mine is a 3.0 (I think, at least those are the last characters on the sticker under the gun near the trigger). I went outside just now to shoot some flies near my trash bins. Measured the distance and can say for certain that I do not need to be within 12". 2 feet is probably ideal - close enough not to spook the fly and but not so close that they're impossible to chase down. The instant kill rate drops after about 2.5 feet. At 3 feet, I'd say maybe 25%-50% chance of one-shot kill, depending on aim. By around 3.5 feet, almost no effect, though it does at least scatter them.
One thing to note is you have to pump/reload with the gun parallel to the ground (reservoir lid pointed up). The woman kept complaining that it doesn't work, but I noticed she was reloading like she was in an action movie (pointing gun upward). Little to no salt ends up in the chamber this way, and she immediately had more success after adjusting technique.
... I am way too into this gun...
How very noble of you.

Vegetables are even worse. I laugh when vegans say there doing it to save life. The death toll to grow an avocado in California then sell it in NYC is GREAT
