These were a lifesaver when I had Xfinity and their useless tech support couldn't figure out why they were dropping signal on my modem.

You need to compile your own build of Tasmota to enable the PING command, but I had it so it would ping Google every 5 minutes to determine whether I had internet or not. If it was down, it would cycle the outlet the modem was connected to.

The scripting language in Tasmota is robust enough that I was able to have it add time between flipping the power if it had consecutive unsuccessful ping/flip sequences, thus putting less strain on the relay.

The only downside (possible upside if you like auditory queues) is that the relays are pretty loud. They definitely won't work well in any quiet setting.

You can with SwitchBot plugs. I set the threshold for 1 watt for power tool chargers. Hope this helps.

It's relevant if you are a true slickdealer and don't even need the product.

These are pretty nice. I have 2 running ESPHome so they are completely under my control. Since I have an older house I can always use a couple more outlets, too.

Edit: $9.50 for two December 2021

Anyone know if you can trigger these to turn off if power draw changes?

No I don't think so. I have 2 of these, don't see an option.

But they are nifty to add your lights to a timer and/or control the lights from an app.

You could probably do it on-device if you load ESPHome or Tasmota on it. Both support automations in some way but I've never messed with either OS like this.

If you integrate it with Home Assistant you could do your logic there pretty easily once you define your sensor(s).

I think these work with Tuya app. Might be another option there.

Thanks. Trying to find a way to shut off power to 3D printer if the heating elements turn off. Should be a pretty significant change in draw when it happens.

This was nice to have for the Christmas Tree lights. It was a little awkard connecting with SmartThings but it worked well enough.

The bed draws the most power but turns off when it's at temp.
The hot end also turns off and on to maintain temp so it may cause problems if you try this while printing.

This item is great. I use this in the garage to control how long i recharge my power tools batteries. I use one of the outlets to control my led overhead light. I can control all of this with my cell phone app.

Do you have heating elements not connected to your main board? I know octoprint has many plug-ins that will turn on and off smart switches for multiple circumstances.

I have my printer connected to a Kasa plugin. It turns on when I upload a file to octoprint and it turns off after it has been idle for 30 minutes.

How many of the 4 outlets are switchable using an app? Do all of them turn on/off at the same time or are they independently switching?
