Good deal on a nice laptop. I use the 3060 version of this at work and I like the fact that it looks like a business laptop with no RGB or bulk so no one else in the office knows about its hidden gaming talents. Yeah the GPU is limited to 65W but that still gets the job done and it's a fair tradeoff for the stealth aspect IMO.

Edit- The 3 year warranty extension is also discounted.

I run AutoCAD and Revit exclusively on consumer gaming machines- the workstation labeled graphics cards are most often the same hardware at an inflated price. This should be fine for your purposes.

Good deal on a nice laptop. I use the 3060 version of this at work and I like the fact that it looks like a business laptop with no RGB or bulk so no one else in the office knows about its hidden gaming talents. Yeah the GPU is limited to 65W but that still gets the job done and it's a fair tradeoff for the stealth aspect IMO.

Edit- The 3 year warranty extension is also discounted.

Starting college in the fall and looking for something I will be able to use CAD on; a solid machine without breaking the bank. Will this work? (I don't play PC games)

Just one recommendation- spend the extra $109 to extend the warranty to 3 years. You'll thank me in 366 days.
I think it would be a lot more helpful if you could elaborate what exactly happened if anything to your laptop that you had to RMA for?

Usually CAD graphics have a different line of video cards, but I'd suggest a docking station when you get back to your dorm. You can plug it in and have a bonafide monitor, mouse and keyboard. I know its an extra cost, but its a boost nowadays with laptops.

acer swift x 3050 for $650 at amazon prime members

dell also has older 5000 precision start at $150 for 6th gen and $300 for 8th Gen M2000. These are heavy CAD machines

I have the 3050 version, it's a nice machine, but the jumpy trackpad issue that dell can't fix is absolutely crazy. It's fine as long as you don't rely on the built-in trackpad. Which should be the primary user input for most.

I heard that the track pad issue was improved in 7620. So it is still not fixed? Can you describe more about the problems you have encountered?

I had that touchpad issue with the 7610 (11th-gen i7 version). Nice machine overall, though the screen at only 300 nits and 60hz was definitely not a strong point, no matter how many pixels.
