I love Eddie (RIP), and I love the album Women and Children First (with a pic of this guitar on the back). That said, this is a fugly guitar. That also said, this is a screaming deal if you're in the market for one. Bummed that it doesn't come w a case tho. Do your thing fellow GAS sufferers 😄

You often hear; that if you buy the expensive gear then it will motivate you to practice. LOL Not. You will likely do less and sell at a loss; just because you don't practice.
Note: No one ever says DIY it (partly) for under $100 to motivate practice. LOL. if you are not artistic then find a friend.
Practice motivation doesn't care, as long as it's playable, and some even if not well playable. But there no reason you can't make some guitar playable. Practice motivation is an adult character trait; that even kids can do. And the competition is mindless games and social networking; which is a problem; leaving you irresponsible. [So I did my daily practice today. LOL.]
It's true that if you make one of the Frankie clones you best be prepared to practice a lot. Because it's not really wall art.
Buy the cheapest total value, good reported guitar possible and with as many parts already on it you want. Maybe two for certain parts and spares. Then finish the rest.
Also you do NOT have to "relic" it. I think it's cooler to make a neat Frankie. And you also don't have to do every mod EVH did.
If you really want to challenge yourself then you could make something even cooler than a Frankie.
And with all that said; if you find the color you want then you don't even have to paint. Because you could actually die like a designer did with ventilation. I'm not saying don't ever paint. I'm saying always have ventilation/mask etc...
