No, easily one of the worst lenses they've made. It's a lens and it's better than not having a lens, but that's about all there is to say about it.

I have an old A6000 that I'd like to replace. When the A6600 launched, I seriously considered it, but held off due to budget constraints. Budget is now not an issue and the A6600 is now 4 years old and the replacement is long overdue. I think this sale is a great price, but the replacement is probably around the corner that will have features (4k at 60fps) that I will regret.

I have an old A6000 that I'd like to replace. When the A6600 launched, I seriously considered it, but held off due to budget constraints. Budget is now not an issue and the A6600 is now 4 years old and the replacement is long overdue. I think this sale is a great price, but the replacement is probably around the corner that will have features (4k at 60fps) that I will regret.

A7iii is a great camera. However, the shutter is known to fail early on and the same thing with the audio jack.

It's not a bad lens if you're starting out, but the first thing I did was buy a Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 to replace the lens. I didn't like the variable aperture.
If you know what lens you want, I'd say skip it. If you're just starting out, I'd say get it so you can play around with it and figure out what it can and can't do for your needs and go from there.

A6700 is being announced on 7/12. That's why this sale is happening. Do you mean 6400?

I also have a6000 that is working great with upgraded lenses (I don't do video). Trying to see if the upgrade is worth it after announcement.

I'm selling all my old Nikon DSLR stuff. Would a a7iii be a better choice than a canon r8? This camera is 5 years old at this point correct? I do on the fly video work. Any recommendations would be great.

Hobby is the only reason these things sell. Normal people have moved on with their smartphones. It is not the same quality as a high quality camera (like the ones listed on this post), but it is good enough for 99% of the people.

What are you gonna do with your old A6000? Recycle it?
