Bought the wired Cloud II for $50 last deal, and I was disappointed with both the headphones and the mic. Gave them away and got a Blue Yeti for $65 (now $53 in a more recent deal) and it sounds 100x better. My $13 Koss KSC75 sounds much better than the Cloud II also. I don't understand how they are so highly regarded online when they are so bad.
Brother! I feel your pain because I've been through a couple different pairs of sennheisers and I ended up returning them because I truly preferred using my shitty 10 dollar Corsair HS35 headset. I genuinely love the sound signature much more on the corsairs and have accepted that I just like "shitty gaming headsets". I guess in my defense most game studios do their final testing for sound on a mainstream budget headset anyways, plus the boosted low-end is like candy to me.
I hope the HyperX Cloud II wired for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One goes on sale soon. The price seems to be dropping due to the Cloud III coming out now.
How do these compare to astro a20? I tried them the other day and loved the comfort and sound quality.. however couldn't justify paying 120 for a headset
I recommend the wireless version of the HyperX Cloud 2 over the wired. If you want to use it on the USB on the PS4, you can, but you have to jimmy the 7.1 by waiting to plug it in and hitting the button immediate. If you plug it in and wait, the 7.1 woudn't turn on. If you use the 3.5 jack, which I think it sounds better, but there's no mute button on the headphones. So, you have to remove the microphone. It's just an odd setup. I think the wireless pair is probably much better.
