Quite a bit cheaper than what I paid for it in December, and my daughter uses it every day during summer. It does max out at 18Mph as it says, but at that spead you are not going to get 25 miles, probably more in the range of 8-10 miles, my guess, based on my daughter running out in the neighbourhood a couple times and I am not sure if she charged overnight. Had no problems with it other than one time it went into limp mode because it had been baking in the sun and then she pushed it at max. She probably damaged the battery too.
I bought this for my son last year. It was from NIU directly and costed about $500 on sale. It has been his get around in the summer almost daily. Max speed is about 18 or 19mph. Range is fine as we never inted to use it for longer commute. We usually use it for 8-10 miles on aveverage and let it charge back over night. Like any EV owners would do

I wanted to share positive experience with their customer service as some of you might be concerned.
After 3 monhts, He did not park the scooter properly and let it drop to the ground and broke the throttle lever. I contacted the customer service (which is in CA) and they sent me a return shipping lable. I did not have the original package and sent it back in my own. They fixed it and shipped it back in an NIU package in 3 weeks.

Never had any problem other than that.

With this price from a local store, this is a great deal!
Thank you for providing the experience and honest review

I have three electric scooters including one of these. This is an extremely solid scooter all around. Really hard to beat at this price. If your looking for 1st scooter, this is a fantastic choice to get your feet wet.

Although Wear a helmet!!!! I took a rough spill and landed directly on my head. Thankfully my helmet took about all of the damage.

Seems like decent price for a new scooter for the first time rider... and comes with 2 year warranty for some peace of mind.

I got the Segway E3+ in the NewEgg deal... last year... they sent me a brand new ES4... I have had no errors or problems.

I'm moving back to the US after many years overseas (DC area) and have little knowledge of commuting.

Are people allowed to take scooters on the metro? If so, would this work for that purpose?

I have a 10 min walk to the metro then a 15 min walk to the office, that could be less than a couple minutes with a scooter I'm guessing.

Would you get this scooter or a refurb Segway ES4 for the same price on newegg?
ES4 lasted me 20 miles in highest mode.

However, ES4 has solid tires...and the control chip is known to blow. You can hack it to run about 21mph which is nice

You sent her to summer school as punishment right?

What you're allowed to take on the metro probably depends on your locale. The DC metro allows bikes, even electric bikes, so you'd probably be okay, but they are not allowed on "crowded" cars, so you may have trouble during rush hours.

Keep in mind, this weighs about 40 lbs (18 kg). It does fold up for easy carrying, but getting it up and down stairs and escalators may prove difficult, especially in a crowded metro or in stone of the deeper stations. You may need to use the elevator.

Honestly, DC is not that big. You may be better off just riding your scooter the whole way, depending on the distance.

Thanks for the response! I'll have to look for more in to it.
