Solid deal. I bought mine (non EVO) on sale about 3 years ago for $430, use it regularly and it's still working great. My only issue is tgat tge metal cover has some rust on a non-visible part close to where you engage the portafilter, and I'm assuming better outside materials was not part of the upgrade. I would consider buying it, just to have a new and slightly better machine if it wasn't for mine having been modded, a process I don't have time to repeat.

And if so.. Which one? I'm just getting mine on Wed. Plan on just getting accessories first and since I don't have to do the opv, that's 1 less thing. I may do a PID and seems the barista gadgets one is pretty nice. Would love to do thr Gaggiuino but seems too complicated.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted. Anyway, yes, PID for both the portafilter and steam + 9 bar spring, which this new model already comes with. I purchase most parts from Ali express, although eBay also has the most relevant ones. I believe most youtube titorials recommend the same PID control unit, I just don't remember the model which is a buch of letters/numbers. There is a Gaggiano mod, that seems more sofisticated, but I feel it's too automatic for my taste, plus it looks more complex to do and more problematic if something goes wrong. Feel free to pm me if you need further help.

I guess 9 bar is the new standard? It was a pressure race for a while there.

Well, you know our culture is all about the biggest, strongest, most powerful and so forth. But in terms of coffee, there's such thing as too much preasure. As far as I know, 15 bars and above is only recommend for pressurized coffee baskets. It seems this new model is focusing exclusively on non-presurized baskets, which give out better tasting coffee, but are much more difficult to master.

They didn't get the memo for a single hole higher power foam nozzle?

Uh, different planets. This is a legitimate espresso machine compared to effectively a Nespresso machine that can use grinds.

There's a group on FB where the admin is really helpful on the mod. If serious I would join it. He made videos and sells kits, etc.

In my opinion, the slight touch of sourness from the water that had spent a few days being turned into steam in an aluminum boiler will add complexity and character to the taste profile of any coffee.

Best enjoyed out of an aluminum soup can, which will help maintain the integrity and richness of flavor for hours just in case you're not able finish your delicious beverage on a first try.

Good point. Maybe they'll add that on the next upgrade. Gaggia classic evo pro plus
