It's so frustrating to live in Florida, finally get some high speed rail (or even public transit in general) and it be absurdly overpriced to the point that not only will I never use it, but so few people will that it won't alleviate the traffic problem in the slightest and will be used as an excuse NOT to build more public transit

Rick Scott rejecting federal money to build that east west corridor from Orlando to Tampa back in 2011 will haunt us for generations. Imagine what could've been at this point more than a decade later.

IMO, too expensive still, cost 3-4x more in just gas alone, plus you'll then need to rent a vehicle when you arrive unless you plan on walking/Ubering everywhere. Forget it if you have young kids.

Great if you're staying at an on-site hotel located within a theme park and don't plan on going to too many places.

I remember living there 30 years ago and pushing this.. Looks like it ended up a wash.. Price isnt bad, turnpike from O-town to Miami will run you $20 with sunpass.. 250 miles gas costs another 30-40 car dependent... Yea you can go down 95, if you like sitting in traffic.. Issue i see is it stops 4 times, taking you 3.5hrs.. Same time it takes to drive yourself 250 miles, and you have your car with you.. Sounds ok if your taking a cruise out of Miami though....

Took Brightline this past weekend from Fort Lauderdale to Miami. It was amazing, fantastic experience for the family. I don't want to rent a car, I don't want to pay $50/day to park in Miami, I don't want to screw with the traffic, and i want the choice to relax or work while riding the train. I wonder who many of the haters have actually ridden Brightline? the station and trains were super nice.

You guys forget just the turnpike tolls one way are around $24 from Miam. Then gas is $25, parking onsite hotel $20 a night. Not dealing with South Florida traffic with your kids priceless.

It's not the breaking down you have to worry about, it's the pedestrians that think they can beat the train, I've witness it first hand, was awful.

Occasionally we (my family and I) fly into FL for vacation. We have family members in Tampa Bay area but love going around the whole state. I used to live there for 20 years. This is absolutely perfect if we catch a great deal into Orlando but want to go down to Miami. It will be even better when they expand to Tampa.....

Sure we would still rent a car when we got there, but it sure beats renting one in Orlando and driving it all the way down to Miami as that commute sucks and there is nothing really much to see. I do still enjoy driving from Tampa to Miami though, as that takes you through the everglades.
