Ive been looking at these for a while, from what I can tell they are heavily counterfeited items. Not sure Id want one from Amazon, unless the items are no longer all pitched into a bin but actually separated by source/seller.

I own one that I bought from Zoro, but it's relatively easy to tell the difference between the real ones and the counterfeit ones... starting with the SR44 (Made in Japan) that Mitutoyo uses. They're much more expensive than the mostly Chinese-made LR44 batts. The counterfeiters never use SR44 batts.

Another option to avoid paying premium prices for counterfeit items is to go straight to the counterfeit source - I picked up a digital caliper from aliexpress (https://www.aliexpress.us/item/22...pt=glo2usa) for $14 shipped to my door. It is solid, mostly metal construction, and accurate against my setup blocks. Some might argue that I'm robbing good old god-fearing legacy brands by doing this, but I'd counter that many of those brands sold out and are buying from the same Chinese factory and slapping their name and margins on the same item. IOW, you can pay $100 for a $14 part, or $14 for a $14 part*.
* I have no idea if that applies to this particular item.

Mitutoyo is an actual Japanese manufacturer that still manufacturers most, if not all, their dial and electronic calipers in Japan. So, they're not one of those companies that outsources production to cheaper Asian countries such as China. Even the SR44 battery Mitutoyo uses is special, and also made in Japan.
