What if pairing the headphone with an Apple Watch that is in close proximity with the headphone?
You need the connection to be maintained to stream music still....

ooooooh, thank you for that. Yeah, I'm not buying into any ecosystem that uses proprietary charging protocols. Nothing but trouble.
I think their models that are waterproof use the magnetic cable, and the water resistant models use the usb-c, so I guess it is all about what you want to use them for.

For this price, the phillips are great, as this is the price of the knockoff no name headsets. Shokz does have a great warranty program, as I have had to replace two now (one b/c the dog chewed it up and the other b/c the charging port stopped working), but they took them back and sent a replacement with no fuss at all. My replacements have been rock solid. I upgraded to the openMove model a while ago, mostly due to the usb-c vs the micro-usb on the older model.

I've had bone conducting earphones give out within a month of use, and these have the same issues reading amazon reviews. Left ear goes out shortly after purchase. Good deal, but I question the durability.

Shokz are your best bet, I use mine daily for running, so they get quite sweaty but have held up great.

Fair warning if you have a big head, these are not for you. They were a little better sound quality than my Aftershokz but they did not fit my head at all and became annoying to wear instantly.

Only buy this if you have a small head, cause medium to large heads probably will all have the same problem as me.
Considering the trusted brand name and price point, I had buyer's remorse over having grabbed the Shokz deal yesterday for a moment before I read your post and then the reviews - which are not so great, and largely back up what you're saying here: they hurt non-small heads.

Now I'm confident in having grabbed the Shokz, even if nearly twice the price of these. Thanks.

Yeah I wanted to like them cause they were a bit louder than my AfterShokz, but they were just impossible to wear. I placed a return with Amazon after my first workout session with the Philips GO. I knew that it was not going to get better.

I don't think its a proximity issue, water just eats up RF signal. I, admittedly haven't tried it, but you could simulate it by pairing your Apple watch with a pair of bluetooth earbuds and putting the watch underwater (pool, bucket, etc.) while playing music. My understanding is that it'd lose connection with the earbuds.

I have a set of the Finis swimming headphones. "Finis Duo" (4gb onboard). They seem to work pretty well. Price is a little silly new, but I got a refurbished off of ebay for like $25? I think a lot of people give up on them when the batteries go south, so seemed to be a lively refurbished market for them. Mine came with packaging and all.
The bone conduction stuff I find good for voice/podcasts, maybe not so much for music. I do love the open ear design for safety, and so I just sacrifice the sound quality. It's decent enough!

Woot is continually showing us that it's become a dumpster heap of of an outlet where unwanted Amazon sales end up.

Just got for the Shokz every time and enjoy the great quality. You will be kicking yourself if you buy the cheaper alternatives.

Kind of looks like most of the bad reviews are people who tried to use them for swimming, which is majorly skewing things. The folks using them for running seem pretty happy.

Best Buy has the SHOKZ OpenRun Pro for $99 (original price $179). I was looking at these recently and haven't seen them below $100.

Shokz OpenRun for road cycling+music and MTB cycling+music or podcast (MTB lower speeds thus less wind noise). Paid $90 last year would do it again. I wish volume up and volume down buttons were more pronounced, not a deal breaker; pausing and changing to next track button works great. No issue with phone calls. Long battery life.

I have no experience other bone headphones...
