After owning the S760h for a month or so, it started glitching out really bad and refused to output any audio 70% of the time. I returned it and got the 6050 instead, and have had no issues.

This is 90 watts. Yes that makes a big difference vs 110 etc, but depends on what it is powering. Various other feature differences such as channels, format supports etc, between receivers.
For something that supports top video quality gaming, with decent surround sound, this is a great deal. I don't think it can be beat at this price point.
200 W/Ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10% THD, 1 channel driven),
90 W/Ch (8 ohms, 20 Hz–20 kHz, 0.08% THD, 2 channels driven, FTC)
Decent specs , currently most manufacturers are going with 8 ohms speakers few floor standing ones require 100 w minimum, so people buy 700$ ones
6ohm speakers are becoming a rare entity, usually when buying receivers you have to be atleast 5-8 plus years ahead so you dont burn your hands spending money for all minor upgrades
If you go with klipsch speakers they are all atleast most of them are 8ohm and they are more efficient and sensitive which means they need less power to get your expected volume in simple terms
I have elac for all 5 speakers they are really good, good bass on tone and doesnt make ears fatigue which paired with klipsch sub 12" not ideal but got it for 98$ at costco , they were selling out for 300$ atleast but not sure why that costco store had that price

A 3 dB gain would require twice the power at reference levels. Going from 90w to 110 wouldn't even net you a 3 dB gain. You'd need to go from 90w to 180w to see a 3 dB gain. Not to mention a 3 dB gain is only 25% increase in loudness. Who is listening at reference levels anyways?

Thanks - Must be a lot more to it I don't understand too. I went from an Onkyo 646 to the Yamaha RX-A4A. Wife did not even know and made a comment about the room sounding better (during Moana of all things, which is played very often, at a decent high volume). Maybe I just had a better configuration or the formats it support caused a difference.

I bought this last year for BF and only have one issue. I stream my music collection from a Synology NAS and about once a week it looses the connection. I have to physically pull the plug to power cycle it and then it works again. Could be an issue with my network/NAS but thought I would mention it. Other than that, I like it.
1. Yamaha A4A
2. Onkyo HT-RC360 ( Plenty of raw power. Just no manual EQ. Rock solid since 2011. Had the HDMI recall back in the day). I still love it. Probably could rock it for another 10 years.
3.Onkyo- NR6050 ( This receiver is just not it. Sou ds worse than my oldie.)

Just curious as to your speakers you have, to give that ranking a bit more context.
