If you want to spend more the Kershaw Barricade is decent for $30. The flip action is heavy but like most knife buyers I haven't actually used the knife much so it may become a little easier to flip as time goes on.

The commenter I was asking had said the Walmarts in his area still carried guns and ammo, yet he couldn't buy it. I doubt in your NYC example they carry guns/ammo in their WM's. That's why I was asking him.
So anyhow, if it's able to be added in the cart, without a hitch (as it did for me), that means even in my highly restrictive area, I'm able to buy it. Got it.

As far as you 'reasoning' that it can be a likely "super duper serious lethal assault knife" because of the thumb assist, then that thumb assist can also make it a super duper serious defensive knife.
It's a 2-way street and "assault" is a laughable term that's 99% misused.

I just went ahead and skipped that part. And I sure as heck wasn't bothering to cite NYC laws which are far worse, just NY *state*. But yes, you can buy most firearms and ammunition in upstate Walmarts just fine. So the knife thing is that much more dumb.
