They are about the same but the 4070 can do more with less power

No question go for the 4070 even if a few hundred more. DLSS3. Frame Gen. Runs cooler.

If Lenovo could offer this price it would be great since I can use some discount for first responder and CB.

Not bad... maybe ~10% slower with the 4060. You get the 500 nit display and 32GB ram instead.

B&H also has the same laptop but with i9, 4070, and faster RAM on sale for $1699. That's a good bit more $$$ than this config, though.

Comparing apples to big apples here but would this refurb desktop be the same power for half the money?

No because it has a slower processor, half the ram, and a 3060 instead of a 4060

No it wouldn't, but you can pretty much always beat laptop performance to price with a desktop. If you bump up to about $1,000 you can probably blow this laptop out of the water. But your display will probably be worse unless you spend a lot of money on a monitor. And of course you can't take the damn thing anywhere lol.

This is a great deal, personally it depends on whether or not you want the really bright screen as to whether this deal or the 4070 with the 300 nit screen is better. I don't think 99% of users will be unhappy with either. The Lenovo legion pro line is just such a good laptop. Very no compromise builds

Other than the screen the main thing you give up here is battery life. The AMD legion pro has dramatically better battery life. And less issues with heat even when on power cord

Efficiency with power and cooling goes even longer way when you're dealing with a laptop

Yeah if I could choose I'd go Ryzen CPU with a GTX GPU. I've been out of the loop a little bit these days though idk if Ryzen pairs better with those inefficient AMD GPUs or if doesn't matter
