This or RT-AXE7800? Don't really need mesh network but price seems attractive.

If you want to maximize coverage go with this 2 pack, if you want the best performance go with the AXE7800. Performance wise the AXE can get an extra 500-700Mbps over wireless to devices.

The 2 pack maxes out around 800Mbps while the AXE7800 can hit upwards of 1400-1500Mbps to a single device.

Good deal. Had these almost a year. No issues except for the day all ASUS routers went out

Currently $390 at MicroCenter

If you need something with more range and speed the ET12 2pk is also on sale but sadly it's via Newegg and it's $680 + tax which is a bit steep: https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/t/16795103 I would love to see the ET12 at $600.

From the Asus website (https://www.asus.com/us/networkin.../techspec/):

How will AXE7800 compare if you use an Asus 86u as a mesh? Better than Zen?

I dont know why, but I impulse bought a 1-pack EERO 6e Pro. With the 25% amazon trade in discount, it came out to 180$. is this deal better ? Im the least tech savvy person and I thought setting up 1 eero was complicated (ATT forces you to do passhtrough behind the bgw210. I also have my own plex server so that was so complicated setting up port forwarding . itworks, but now I believe I have a "double nat?""

I have ATT 1000mbps but still use the bgw210 router/modem combo that ATT provides.
I live in a 3 story town home, work desk/garage is on 3rd floor, living room on 2nd and 3 bedrooms on the 3rd. WIFI is only 10-12 mbps ANYWHERE in the house besides a few feet away from the router.

Hardwired is no issue.

I am not sure I understand the question, also are your referencing the ax86u or the ac86u. Going to take a wild shot to see if I can try to answer this. The Ax86U maxes out around 1200Mbps to a high end compatible client but normally averages between 800-900Mbps. The AC86U maxed out around 500Mbps but averaged usually around 300-400Mbps. In a mesh the AX86u would probably max out around 700Mbps with wireless backhaul, it would get full speeds with a hardwired backhaul. The AC86U in a mesh would probably be around 250ish Mbps.

Hopefully that was the answers you were looking for?

For starters the Eero 6E Pro is kind of dog vomit, besides the google 6E its the 2nd worst on the market implmentation of 6E, so just about anything will be better than it including the EERO 6 Pro, lol.

Now this is an extra $120 but your speeds will definetly increase to probably well over 500Mbps to just about every device in your home if you set it up properly.

If you want to save some money and can put the router in the middle of the 2nd floor, just go with a single Asus AXE7800 when its on sale for $250 which it has been multiple times. Or even get the AX86U when on sale for $200 and you will be happier with either or. The AXE7800 as I mentioned in the comments above is superior to all of them currently by a good amount so its worth the $250 by itself. The AXE7800 and the AX86U can actually max out your 1Gbps line to a proper client over wireless.

I've had my eye on this series of routers for a while, but keep hesitating to pull the trigger due to some issues brought up in the reviews. It just doesn't seem like a reliable system.
