I just threw mine away because it's a complete piece of crap if you have more than one page to staple. It's probably from 1999ish from when I worked at Staples.

I have a dark green one from over 10 or 15 years ago. It's such a good little stapler with built-in storage. I must have stapled hundreds of pages back in the day when you had to print and staple your homework before turning it in.

There's community drive to collect school supplies soon and I was thinking of buying a bunch of these staplers to donate but after reading your post, it made me wonder how useful they would be nowadays. Even before COVID, the schools in my district had been moving towards submitting compositions and essays electronically. The COVID shutdown of schools solidified that policy and I don't think kids have that much need for staplers anymore. So, I think my money would be better spent on other items. Thanks.

BTW I still have my red Swingline mini stapler from when I was a high school student but it rarely gets used anymore (only rarely, when I run out of staples for my regular stapler).

I don't know if these are sold in-store but on-line, you have to order a minimum of 24 which is probably 23 or 22 more than the average family needs.
