Bought a Midea Window AC 12000 BTU in Sept 2022,after looking a deal in slick deal, not needed that time. installed last week, didn't work not even a single time.
I bought the u-shape 8K model no issue so far. Comes with one year warranty so contact them before the warranty expires.(1 Year Limited Warranty for the Unit and 5-Year Warranty for the Compressor).

I bought an 10000btu last year and used for 2 months. Went to use it 2 weeks ago and throws EC07. Midea said they will issue me a check but have not seen a check yet. Was told should be issued a week ago.
I always say buy extra warranty as these units don't hold up.
Growing up we had an big ac unit that lasted over 20 yrs and would freeze you out.

You have to keep after the support people. They are not really support people. Midea, like other companies, farm out support to a company that only does support for others. They don't know much about the product they are supposed to help you with other than to refer you to someplace where you have to buy something for you failed device. Getting you the refund probably involves contacting the real Midea. They may be hesitant to do so. You have to keep calling them and let them know you will report them (not sure to who or what).
You can try contacting the store where it was purchased. I am told that Costco will try to be helpful.

Have exactly the same issue. Waiting for the check to come. Will call them again. Bought the AC this year in April but Ec07 in July, so hoping to get my check soon. Very shady.

Honey, single-hose units ain't gonna do nothin in Atlanta in July, hotter than a skillet of cornbread, and even more humid. Except Maisie's cornbread, girl, that stuff so dry you need a stick of butter on every slice just to keep from choking!

Not sure what all the hate is about single hose units. I got one from Sams 5 years ago because it was cheap at the time 200$ for 6500 btu. It works well for my master bed that gets too hot. I have it on 79 degrees as it really gets too cold otherwise. I know it isn't efficient but the condenser doesn't run that much really. My friends central went down so we gave them that cooled their living room / kitchen well enough.
It isn't perfect but it might be cheaper up front and if you don't need the best works fine in a pinch I am sure.

That's what I believed too. I got the recent LG single hose and it works amazing. Unlike my LG fridge.

To all those complaining about single hose units, what deals are there on dual hose units?

Ugh... single-hose... these should be banned. A single-hose A/C unit is one of the worst designs ever allowed to be sold. These "suck in" room air, cool it, and then blow it out into the room. Thatis good. BUT it also "sucks in" room air to cool down the hot condenser coil and it blows that heat outside. This is bad as it creates a vacuum inside of the room/house,etc. thus the hypothetical outdoor warm, humid air is drawn back into the room/house, etc. Therefore its efficiency is greatly hindered. A Dual-hose model does not create a vacuum as it sucks in outdoor air to cool down the condenser coil. The condenser coil is what extracts the heat. You want to keep that business outdoors with outdoor air. A window-unit is actually a very efficient unit as it keeps the hot business end outdoors completely.
