Bought 16 of these last year. The ones that get the most sunlight and water are over 6 ft, closer to 7 ft tall already. I have a couple stragglers, but overall I am very happy with them. Last year they looked like a Charlie Brown Christmas tree, but they really filled out this year.

These are so easy to root yourself and grow that amount of money in 6 months. If you don't have a tree to take some clippings from you can ask a neighbor of find one in a park, etc. I made a video on it recently. https://youtu.be/9qrzHV7ikOc

I purchased these in late April, they came packaged wonderfully and they are all still living and doing well, I live in Zone 5b.
Depending on how close you plant them will also decide the max growth height. 5 feet apart the max will be 20-25 foot tall, 8 feet apart max will be 25-30, 10 feet apart max will be 30-40 foot tall yada yada so and so forth.

You can, but they will need a lot more "watching". I have 10-15 of these around my yard, and I've had better success with the ones I planted when it wasn't scorching in the summer.

Can these be planted near a concrete pad? Do I need to worry about the roots upheaving the concrete?

These are called Arborvitae, I have never seen them called thuja before….. like how did it take me all this time to ever hear this name before? Must be a new timeline in the matrix.

Has anyone tried growing these in pots?
That's typically how they're sold around here. I bought mine around 4 ft tall at $15/ea, so this doesn't seem that great of a deal to me, but as soon as I put them in the ground in June of last year, they took off. About 8 feet tall and a lot more filled in now.

Looks like they grow too tall
They're literally called "green giants", what else would you expect? 😒

They're interchangeable.

Fertilize monthly? All the literature I read said to only fertilitilize in early spring or it will confuse the plant on when to grow up vs grow out/fill in.

They're sold at nurseries all around NC. Can't speak for other regions. I've seen them on FB Marketplace as well.

Ugly, industrial looking trees. The only reason to buy these are if you have a nuisance neighbor you're trying to block from view or you're in an HOA that won't allow you to build a fence.
Or if you want greenery and privacy in the winter months…

These things are called Green Giants for a reason. They grow to be 40-60 feet tall, at a rate of a few feet per year. Do you have a pot big enough to handle that?

As long as the ground is workable, you can plant whenever you want. If you plant during summer, the major issue is that you really need to make sure you keep up with watering them. It's a good idea to purchase a moisture meter, they're not very expensive. I suggest getting one that can also read soil pH - you'd be surprised how much it can vary from one spot in your yard to another.

Got these last time via Amazon's slickdeal. They arrived with all dying browning tips. I sent a photo to the company but heard nothing back from them via Amazon. One of the supposed reps had the audacity to try and dm me on slickdeals because I was the front page OP one time for their Costco thujas
