Points and cert go to your hilton account, they're unconnected to the credit card once earned.

There's no reason to cancel before next annual fee posts of course- and doing so is likely to PO amex- but after you've had the card 1 year feel free to cancel and avoid a second AF (you will prob. lose any unused PP benefits though)

free night certificate
You mean a 3rd annual fee, as it's recommended to keep the card at least a year (2 AF)

No, I do not.

As long as you cancel the card within 30 days of the 2nd fee posting Amex will refund it in full.

So you wait for 2nd fee to post (thus avoiding any negative impact with Amex for holding less than a year after getting a bonus) and THEN cancel it, and you still don't pay a 2nd annual fee.

Only thing I notice with Hilton devaluation of points and dynamic pricing, in most metro areas, you can't get 2-3 nights with these points. Please share any details of recent changes unless youve seen good redemptions.

0.5 cents a point has been a rough approximate value for a while now... but there's plenty of outliers in both directions (and you can also increase value using the 5th night free of redemptions)

I see Hilton Honors American Express SurpassĀ® Card
is giving "Earn 130,000 Hilton Honors Bonus Points + A Free Night Reward" and $95 annual fee
need not spend $15,000 in a calendar year to earn free night.
Please suggest

thats a personal card, the one posted here is a biz. biggest benefit here is that this card will not count towards your 5/24 chase status and shouldnt have any bearings on your personal credit score if you happen to carry a balance. Also this comes with a free night certificate just like the surpass. if you spend 15k then you get another fnc on top of that. HTH. Given the elevated bonus and the FNC, id go for the biz over the personal. or if you are already over 5/24 then id apply for both as it would give you 280k plus 2FNC after meeting the total 7k SUB.

Looks like both require $15k spend to get a SINGLE FNC. If you got it automatically by keeping the card open, they'd be advertising it. Blogs seem to agree $15k is required. This is a big downside vs. IHG but still nice to get a huge chunk of points if you plan to use in the next couple of years. But IHG you can just keep open forever as the $99 gets you a night valued at least $200 (40,000 points).

The FNC is part of the signup bonus. They DO advertise that. It's right in the title of the thread- and when you click on the link in the OP it clearly says at the top

You don't get one for keeping it open each year after by default, which is why for most folks this card will be closed after 1 year and 1 day.

The only Hilton card usually worth keeping open after your SUB year is the Aspire- which can be profitable pretty easily each year if you travel much at all.... ($250 airline credit, $250 resort credit, and a free night annually plus Diamond status (and a couple other much more niche perks like a $100 property credit at Waldorfs and stuff) for just a $450 AF... honestly I'm shocked the AF has remained that low without benefit cuts given what has happened on the comparable Marriott card from Amex.

Yes, the constant devaluing of all points/miles/etc from all rewards credit cards is annoying... It's always best to use them as soon as you can to get the current/most value out of them.. The longer you hold on and horde them.. the lower the value becomes.
