This derailleur is specifically for a 2x12 electronic shifting set up.
If you have more or less than 2 chainrings in the front, it won't work.
If you have more or less than 12 cogs in the back, it won't work.
If you don't have Di2 shift levers, it won't work.

yes its compatible, but honestly no need to upgrade they are nearly identical...

The GT is probably a MTB with 8 speed mechanical group, this is a 12 speed electronic derailleur for road bikes, so no, it wouldn't be compatible. Even if it was, it wouldn't be worth upgrading the GT frame.

Biking newb here… bought a GT Aggressor from Dicks for cheap. The parts on the bike are expectedly cheap. Would this be compatible and would it a good upgrade?

Without knowing the component spec on your Aggressor, that question is hard to answer. Most likely you have a cable actuated shifting mech, so this electronic shifting would not be compatible without a new shifter. This derailleur is found on high end bikes. Ride what you have and then replace parts as they wear out or break.

If the bike frame isn't di2 ready. Then it won't look pretty trying to make the electronic wires work. Usually a mess.

Also cheap bikes have more issues then just cheap parts. You're better off buying a $1500+ bike and upgrading parts once they wear down

The $100 spd-sl pedals are half off too. Going to pick up a set for planned new bike purchase.

If you skim through the previous REI 11-speed cassette discussion, you'll see many other Shimano products (pedals, various speed cassettes, derailleurs, etc.) that are 50% off.

You want to.do.whatever you can to get rid of the front derailleur.on a mountain bike. You do not want this.

I'm out of the loop, wireless has worked its way down to 105... Funny how they just sort of keep rebranding and slightly changing the previous version of Dura-Ace as Ultegra whenever they come out with something new. In that case a slightly dated Ultegra component should be loosely comparable to a current 105. I think we are at the point where a modern big box store bike if properly assembled might actually almost be comparable to a midrange bike shop bike from a decade ago. I wonder where we will be in another decade. Wireless hub motors with integrated (much more compact) batteries would be amazing, Imagine simply swapping a wheel and adding a throttle to temporarily electrify the race bike! As these things progress please be aware of some of the "right to repair" things going on right now as there are instances where your property becomes trash because the "cloud" disappears, check this video to see what I'm talking about. https://youtu.be/UMSIdqdIldw . It is advisable to avoid purchasing products that require the internet to work and the supplier to give authorization for their use.
